The Download button does nothing
Usually the browser is blocking or hiding the download. A few quick checks fix it.
Last updated: October 29, 2026
You press Download and nothing seems to happen.
Quick fix
- 1
Look for the downloads icon in your browser. The file may already be there.
- 2
Allow downloads for the site if asked.
- 3
Reload the page and press Download once.
Common causes
A browser prompt you did not see
On iPhone, Safari asks for confirmation in a small prompt that is easy to miss.
Downloads blocked for the site
A browser setting can block automatic downloads until you allow them.
Private browsing
Some browsers block or hide downloads in a private window.
Not enough storage
A full device cannot save a new file, so the download stops at once.
A large file that is slow to start
A long video can take several seconds before the first data arrives.
Step by step on your device
- 1
Tap Download, then tap Download in the small prompt.
- 2
Tap the Downloads icon in the Safari address bar.
- 3
Tap the file, then Share and Save Video.
The details
What is going on
The preview appeared, so the file was found. The last step is your browser saving it, and that step can be blocked, delayed or hidden, especially on phones.
Check these in order
Most cases are solved by one of these.
- Look for a downloads icon in the address bar or toolbar. The file may already be there.
- On iPhone, Safari asks for confirmation first. Tap Download in the small prompt, then open the Downloads icon.
- Allow downloads for the site if your browser asks. In Chrome, open the lock icon next to the address and set Automatic downloads to Allow.
- Leave private browsing, since some browsers block downloads there.
- Reload the page, paste the link again and press Download once.
- Check that your device has free storage.
Large files
A long video can take a while to start, because the browser waits for the first data. Wait about ten seconds before pressing again, as extra presses can start extra downloads.
Still stuck?
Try another browser, such as Chrome or Safari, and tell us the device and browser on the contact page if it still fails.
How to avoid it next time
- Keep some free storage on your device.
- Allow downloads for the site once.
- Use a normal window, not a private one, for big files.
