Why a video download fails, and what to try

Private posts, expired links, region limits and rate limits explain nearly every error you will see.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

The post is not public

This is the most common cause. Posts from private accounts, friends-only Facebook videos, member-only LinkedIn posts and private Vimeo videos are not available to anyone who is not signed in, so a downloader cannot read them. We do not ask for logins and you should not share yours with any website.

The link is not a post link

A link to a profile, a hashtag page or a search result has no single video behind it. Open the post itself and copy that address. For Instagram, post links contain /p/ or /reel/. For X, they contain /status/ followed by a number.

The post was deleted or is still processing

If the owner removed the post, or uploaded it seconds ago, the platform may not serve a playable file yet. Wait a minute and try again.

The platform is limiting requests

Social platforms protect themselves from heavy automated traffic. When many people use a tool at once, some requests are turned away for a short time. The error usually clears itself within a minute or two.

Region and age limits

Some videos are blocked in certain countries or marked as age-restricted. Those are served only to signed-in adults or to specific regions, so a public downloader cannot fetch them.

Still stuck?

Send us the link through the contact page and say which platform it came from. Platforms change how their pages work without notice, and reports help us find broken cases quickly.
