Save reels to your camera roll on iPhone and Android

Where files go after you download, and how to move them into Photos or Gallery.

Last updated: October 29, 2026

Why the file does not appear in Photos at once

A browser saves files to a downloads folder, not to your photo library. That is true on every phone. The file is safe, it just needs one extra step to show up with your photos.

iPhone and iPad

Use Safari. After you press Download and confirm, a Downloads icon appears in the address bar. Tap it, then tap the file to preview it. Press the Share button and choose Save Video. The reel now appears in the Photos app, in the Recents album.

If Save Video is missing, the file may still be downloading. Wait for the progress circle to finish and try again.

Android

Chrome saves the file to the Downloads folder and shows a notification. Tap it to open the video. Gallery and Google Photos usually list a Downloads album within a minute. If you cannot find it, open the Files app, choose Downloads, and move the file into the Camera or DCIM folder.

Free up space

Videos can be large. If your phone runs low on storage, back up the saved reels to your cloud storage and remove the local copies, or delete old downloads you no longer need.

If a download will not start

Check that your browser has permission to download files and that you have free space. Private browsing windows sometimes block downloads, so try a normal window. If the preview shows but the button does nothing, reload the page and paste the link again.
