How to download a LinkedIn post video
LinkedIn is full of useful videos: talks, tutorials, product demos and short lessons from experts. The platform gives you no easy way to keep one for later or to watch it on a flight. This guide shows how to save a video from a public LinkedIn post as an MP4 file with the free tool on this site. You will learn which posts work, how to copy the right link on a phone and on a computer, what quality to expect, how to move the file to your gallery and what to do when a post will not load. It also explains how to use saved videos responsibly at work.

What works and what does not
A public LinkedIn post that contains a video uploaded straight to LinkedIn can be saved as an MP4. Posts whose audience is limited to connections, videos shown in private groups, live events that are still running, and videos that are only embedded from another site are not available. LinkedIn also keeps a tight rein on logged-in content, so anything that needs a login stays out of reach for a public tool.
A fast test is to open the post in a private browser window. If the video plays without a login, it is public.
Step 1: copy the link to the post
In the LinkedIn app, open the post and tap the three dots at the top right of the post. Choose Copy link to post. On a computer, click the three dots on the post and choose Copy link to post, or click the time stamp to open the post on its own page and copy the address from the browser bar.
Short lnkd.in links also work. Do not copy the link of a profile or company page, because those hold many posts and have no single video.
Step 2: paste it into the LinkedIn Video Downloader
Open the LinkedIn page of this site and paste the link. The tool starts by itself and shows a preview with the title of the post and the quality it found. It looks for the highest quality video file that LinkedIn serves for that post and offers it as a single button.
If you see a message that no video was found, the post may contain only a picture, a document or a link. LinkedIn images are handled differently, and our guide on LinkedIn pictures explains how to save them.
Step 3: save the MP4
Press Download. The video is saved as an MP4 with its sound. LinkedIn commonly serves 720p and sometimes 1080p, and we pick the best one available. We do not convert or compress it, so the quality is exactly what the platform holds.
A five minute talk at 720p is often around 30 to 60 MB, so use Wi-Fi for long videos.
Saving on iPhone, Android and computers
On iPhone, use Safari. Press Download, open the Downloads icon in the address bar, tap the file and use Share, then Save Video to add it to Photos. On Android the file goes to the Downloads folder and appears in Gallery shortly after. On a computer, it goes to your Downloads folder and plays in any player.
If you want to watch it on a laptop later, copy it to a cloud drive so you do not depend on phone storage.
Using LinkedIn videos at work
Videos on LinkedIn are the property of their authors or their companies. Saving a copy to watch offline is common. Sharing it in your own presentation, a training course or a marketing campaign is different, and needs permission. Credit the author, link to the original post and, where possible, ask first. This is not only polite, it protects you and your company from complaints.
Why saving can fail
The common causes are a post limited to connections, a video that is only an embed, a deleted post, or a link that points to something other than a post. Check each in turn. Open the link in a private window, copy the link to the post from the three dots menu and make sure it still exists.
LinkedIn also limits requests for short periods, so waiting a minute can help. If the problem persists, send the link to us through the contact page.
Saving pictures and documents instead
Not every post is a video. Pictures can be saved with your browser or phone, and carousels are often PDF documents that you can download if the author allows it. Our guide to saving LinkedIn images walks through each device step by step, so you can keep whatever a post contains.
Quick answers
Can I save a video from a LinkedIn Learning course? No. Course videos are for signed-in learners and are not public.
Does LinkedIn tell the author that I saved it? We do not log in, so the request carries no profile information. You should still follow the author's wishes when you share anything.
What if the video is only a link preview from YouTube? Videos that are embedded from other sites live on those sites, and cannot be saved from LinkedIn.
Can I save a video from a company page? Yes, if the post is public and the video was uploaded to LinkedIn.
Tips for professionals
If you watch industry talks to learn, save them with the speaker's name and the date in the file name, so your notes stay useful. If you present material in your team, link to the original post and credit the author, so everybody can see the source.
For compliance and privacy, do not store videos that contain customer information, and do not forward videos that were shared only with a limited audience.
Common mistakes to avoid
Many people copy the link of a company page or a profile, which holds dozens of posts and no single video. Always copy the link to the specific post from the three dots menu. Another mistake is expecting to save videos from LinkedIn Learning, events that are still live or posts restricted to connections. These are not public. A third mistake is saving a long video on mobile data. A talk of ten minutes can be well over 100 MB, so use Wi-Fi. A fourth is reposting someone's video in your own company channels without permission, which can lead to complaints. Credit the author, link to the original and ask when in doubt.
